I can’t, and won’t comment on that situation. It’s unfortunate and incredibly stressful for all involved.
I will share, however, my thoughts on the comments I’m hearing in the media from parents, educators, commentators and the general public. If you’ve been to one of my sessions, or worked with me in the past five years, I don’t have to explain to you where I stand on the subject of assessment. For everybody else who may be new to this blog, I am going to publish numerous posts in the coming days explaining why zeros, and the public conception of what they do, are just plain wrong.
To my regular readers who come here looking for cool math stuff to use in classrooms, sorry. You’ll both have to suffer through this stuff for a while.
